Phoenix Petroleum Ltd. was contracted by Shell Canada to design and construct a new piping system for loading and offloading of Jet A-1 and Avgas at the Vancouver International Airport. This project involved the complete removal of all old steel piping and installation of new welded stainless steel piping as well as upgrading of the entire catwalk system to meet the latest construction standards. The greatest challenge in this project was to keep this very busy aviation facility in operation throughout the entire construction process. The new piping and catwalk was prefabricated to minimize the welding required on site. A very detailed 5 phase construction plan was developed and executed by Phoenix Petroleum Ltd. and the project was delivered on schedule and on budget without closing the operation of the facility.
Phoenix Petroleum Ltd. was contracted by Shell Canada to deliver a turn-key, aviation fuel storage / delivery facility at the Edmonton International Airport. The entire design, construction and commissioning of this new plant was completed in house by Phoenix Petroleum Ltd. This state of the art facility provided storage, loading and offloading systems for both Jet A-1 and Avgas. The final design included features such as spill containment, overfill protection, automated inventory control, high level alarm, emergency stop, preset temperature compensated truck loading, welded stainless steel product piping, closed system product quality testing and product recovery.
The owner-supplied surplus equipment that was completely refurbished prior to installation.
New piping, catwalk, and electrical were all seamlessly integrated with the existing system, and system downtime was reduced to less than 8 hours.
